It is good to give thanks to the LORD,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning,
and your faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O LORD, have made me glad by your work;
at the works of your hands I sing for joy. Psalms 92:1-4
Wherever you are at I would like you to take a moment to look around. As you do so, ask yourself, “What am I thankful for in this place?” Now imagine every room of the building you are in. Again ask, “What am I thankful for in this place?” Now, expand your vision even more beyond the building into the neighborhood where you are at and ask, “What am I thankful for in this place?” Now, think about the city you live in, the state, the nation, the world. Finally, think of all of creation and ask yourself, “What am I thankful for in this place?”
I don’t know about you, but I take so much for granted: people, places, and things I encounter every day. All are special gifts from God. Look around, we have so much to be thankful for! When I take a moment out of my day, pause and look around at the beauty of creation, I can relate to the psalmist even more.
Let us again pause. Take another moment and give thanks to God for all there is, letting our hearts, minds, and spirit sing praises to God!
