Daily Inspiration - October 29

Updated: Oct 30, 2020

This past weekend, I had the honor to meet with our 10th grade students on a Friday night in the St. Luke’s parking lot. As we met masked, distanced, under canopy tents with heaters, fighting the cold of the night, one could easily think this moment was crazy. And, to be honest it was, sitting at a distance from your faith community as you are preparing to affirm your Baptism in a couple days seem quite crazy. I’m not going to shy away from it; 2020 has been a crazy ride.

We all have many things that we can lament and grieve. And we should over safe space to one another in order to lament and grieve such things. Here is the amazing thing; even in the middle of all the crazy, God is with us. God is guiding us, God I walking with us in this moment.

And that is the reality of what I felt on Friday night in a cold parking lot. God met us right in the moment. Students still dug in to the topics at hand and learned together. They were living out a promise made at their Baptism that they are called to proclaim the good news of God in Christ through word and deed. Their words of confirming their faith and living out their faith in love and kindness was and is a affirmation of this promise.

So, how are we acknowledging where God is meeting us right in the middle of the situations we are in? How are we being guided by God to proclaim the good news of God? Things may be crazy and ever-changing, but God is consistent, God is consistent in love, mercy and grace.
