Centering Prayer

Many Western Christian practices involve and revolve around words: singing, reading, speaking, even intercessory prayer. Faith in words is helpful and useful, but silence – contemplation, allowing time for listening – can be a rich and grounding addition to Christian prayer life. Centering prayer is a way to hold space for holy encounter in silence and contemplation. You may find it to be easy; you may find it challenging. But there is no failure. There is no unsuccessful practice. There is just your centering prayer practice; space patiently held for holy encounter.
