What Is Stephen Ministry?

"Bear one another’s burdens, and in this
way you will fulfill the law of Christ"
(Galatians 6:2, NRSV).
Stephen Ministers are congregation members trained by Stephen Leaders to offer high-quality, one-to-one Christian care to people going through tough times. A Stephen Minister usually provides care to one person at a time, meeting with that person once a week for about an hour. Stephen Ministers also gather together with their Stephen Leaders twice a month for supervision and continuing education. Stephen Ministry equips and empowers lay caregivers—called Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.

Life presents many challenges that can often be best met with the supporting care of a trained listener. A non-judgmental Stephen Minister, who demonstrates the love of Christ and has uncompromising confidentiality, can often provide the necessary support to navigate life’s unexpected trials. Loss of a spouse, a child, financial hardship, divorce or even the empty nest can be one of many events that can make the assistance of a Caregiver helpful. Christ’s calling is for us to be His presence in a world where sin, pain and hurt abound.

So when you are experiencing difficult times, don’t struggle alone. Our Stephen Ministers will walk with you, listen to you, encourage you, pray with you, and provide confidential one-to-one care to help you through tough times.
Our Stephen Ministers are ready to care for you!
